About Bob Sunda
Bob is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, also having studied music at Western Michigan University, Ohio State and Capitol University in Columbus, Ohio. He has spent over 30 years touring, recording and performing all over the world with a wide variety of musicians and artists. He has performed in concert with jazz greats: Mose Allison, Richie Cole, Elaine Elias, Patti Braun, Charlie Byrd, Bobby Shew, and blues guitarist, Elvin Bishop. He has, over the years recorded numerous albums with many different jazz, blues, cajun and gospel artists including Gatemouth Brown, the late great bluesman Junior Wells, and a two-album project with Grammy Award winner Michael Doucet and Beausolleu for Narada Records. While living and working out of New Orleans as a freelance bassist and keyboardist for nearly 15 years, he also held a variety of positions there, including musical director/band leader on the American Oveen Steamboat, and was on staff in the entertainment department for Harrah’s for 5 years. Bob relocated to North Mississippi, after the Katrina disaster in 2006. Bob lives in Hernando, Mississippi, and continues his work as a freelance musician and music educator. Bob is currently on staff as a pianist/choir director at Nesbit Presbyterian Church, and also holds a position as a professor of applied music at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN.
Bob Sunda is a versatile musician with over twenty years of professional experience, from orchestras to trios, performing a wide variety of musical styles utilizing an extensive repertoire of classical, top 40, rock, rhythm and blues, and jazz. He has performed in concerts with jazz greats including Mose Allison, saxophonist Ritchie Cole, trumpeter Randy Brecker and pianists Elaine Elias, Patti Braun and Carmen Cavilero and has toured internationally with his own jazz quartet, Chromazone. Mr. Sunda has worked with a variety of musicians, recording and performing with cajun, jazz, zydeco and blues artists from the Mississippi Delta area and has taught music clinics and workshops in various universities and privately throughout his career in the U.S. and overseas.
